How effective is the combination of your product and ancillary texts?
A film distributor is a way of getting your film out to the correct target audience. They are reliable for making the film attractive to potential viewers. The can be achieved through a range of platforms. For example, the film may be advertised on the TV, the Web and also on outdoor ads such as bus stops.
The film distributors will direct there advertising differently depending on the demographics of the target audience. A film that is aimed at teenagers is most likely to have a Web dependent campaign. This is because teenagers are the most likely age group to have access to the internet. They are also most likely to use social networking sites so it means distributors will use these sites to attract viewers. It is important that the distributors use the tools to showcase a film as they do not want to put advertisements in places that potential viewers cannot access. A campaign may also involve using a popular actor so that an audience are more intrigued to watch it. The Woman in Black is an example of this. The main character of this film was played by Daniel Radcliffe who is widely known as the character of Harry Potter. Daniel Radcliffe was used as the main distributor and used his fame to design a massive campaign for the new film. The film proved successful as many were interested in seeing Daniel Radcliffe play a character that wasn’t Harry Potter.
