Audience Research
1. What is your age?
2. What is your gender?
3. What is your occupation?
4. How often do you attend the cinema?
5. Do you enjoy horror films?
6. If yes, what is your favourite subgenre(s)?
7. Do you keep up to date with the latest film releases?
8. If yes, by which means of media platform(s)?
9. Who do you watch films with?
10. What do you expect from horror films?
We used these questions in our questionnaire to research into our target audienc
We used SurveyMonkey to collect research on our audience. We did however, use Microsoft Excel to display some of our graphs - I have included one of them in the Issuu document below. This shows that we are able to use different pieces of software to show our results. By collecting research, we could understand what certain audiences look for in their products. This helped us to aim our horror film at the right audience and make sure our marketing campaign could reach them.
We found from the research that our target audience liked the subgenre of thriller/drama best. Our trailer was under the subgenre of supernatural and we found that this was the second most favoured genre. We took into consideration that many of the female audience enjoyed thriller/drama so included some conventions that would have fitted this sub genre too.

My Individual Horror Trailer Idea
Beginning:
My trailer idea revolved around a group of four friends, who go on a camping trip during the school holidays. The beginning of the trailer will show them all planning the trip around one of their houses. There will also be a scene of them packing up the car with their belongings.
Main:
This part of the trailer will show the teenagers all setting up their tents and settling around the campfire. They will then begin to tell ghost stories and one tells a story about the 'haunted house' near where they are camping. As they are all drinking, they all encourage each other to go to the house.
Ending:
The original horror story comes the reality - a ghost lives in the house. There will be lots of quick, snappy shots of the teenagers running away from the house. I would use several shots of a figure going after the teenagers with a knife.
Characters:
The characters would include two males and two females.
Tiffany - Tiffany is the 'final girl' in this film according to Clover's theory. This is because she fights back against the antagonists. She is also very androgynous and is not as interested in alcohol as her friends.
Georgia - Georgia takes on the sexual role in the film and is therefore seen as a sex object to the male audience. She isn't bothered about being sensible and is the first to die due to carelessness.
Dale - Dale is 'The Donor'. This is because he is the one supplying the alcohol to the rest of the group. Without the alcohol, the group wouldn't have been as confident in to explore.
Jacob - Jacob could also have been seen as 'The Helper'. This is because Jacob would have tried to help save the girls when the horror story came to life.
Location:
There would be three different locations used in the trailer. The first would be one of the characters bedrooms. This would be where the first scene was held and would be where the planning for the night would begin.
The second would be the woods. This is where the majority of the woods would be filmed as this is where the camping would take place. We would set and tent and campfire up so that it appear to be a proper camping area.
The last location would be the 'haunted house'. Here would be where the trailer would be brought to an end. The location would be dark so that the location is seen as creepy.
Audience:
The audience of my film would be 18+ as it would have an 18 certificate. This being as it will be quite violent and a lot of the story focuses on how alcohol has an affect on you. My film would also be primarily for males. I have chosen this audience as I have included a female that is seen as a 'sex object' in the story. This may encourage more males to watch the film.

Group horror trailer planning
Synopsis
Beginning: Main character has a paranoia/anxiety and believes someone is following her. The start of the film begins with Evie’s dream. She is dreaming of running through a forest and see’s the ‘figure’. This is the first time we see the figure of a young girl. The scene then carries on with the alarm clock ringing and the main girl is then suddenly woken up. The rest of the scene is just of the Evie going about her everyday routine. Evie goes to college where she goes to a counselling session, here she discusses her dreams.
Main: When Evie finishes her counselling session, she walks down the corridor. In this scene, we see everyone around her drop to the floor as if they are dead. After a few seconds, we realise that the it was just Evie’s imagination and it is playing tricks on her. This scene then occurs in several situations. She has a doctor’s appointment where Evie is prescribed a new drug for her anxiety/hallucinations. She then goes home to take the drugs, in the bathroom she realises she has cuts on her arm (using opacity) and as she goes to the sink to wash the blood off, as she looks down, her figure moves behind her in the mirror.
Ending: She has another counselling session, yet this time when they discuss her childhood, she makes a link between her hallucinations and her past. It comes out that her and her mother were abused when she was younger, meaning the ‘figure’ is her as a child. Her past is haunting her.

Character profiles
Main Characters:
Evie - False Victim: throughout the film the audience are made to feel sorry for her, its not until the end of the film that both her and the audience realise that she is actually the antagonist.
Doctor - The Donor: the doctor is the donor in the film. This is because he gives Evie the pills that assist her to become the character she is.
Friend - Evie's friend who is trying to help her is seen as a 'dumb blonde'. She would fit understand he sexual role of Jeremy Tunstall's female theory and is the first to die.

Audience Information
Audience Information
Our audience is predominantly under 25s, both males and females. We believe females will enjoy our film because it has supernatural influences within it. There has been a shift in females interest in supernatural horror films. Research shows more and more females are attending showings of this genre of film. Males will be drawn toward the film because of male gaze, as the film will feature young, pretty females. This film would be relatable to people who have also experienced traumatic or haunting pasts, and also because the actors/actresses would be of a similar age to this target audience who face everyday struggles within college and home life.
